Tom 4's picture

Maplesoft has just announced a public beta for a new product called the Maple Toolbox for MATLAB. In many ways, it's a more advanced version of the Symbolic Toolbox produced by the MathWorks. You can get more info and download the software here. Note that you need a copy of MATLAB on your machine. The discussion forum for the beta test will be right here in MaplePrimes. T4.

Maple - Matlab

Hello Tom 4 and hello to All!

I am working with very large matrixes. And Super Maple Engine is best for formulating problem - matrix (size is 2000*2000 and more)generation. But I would like to improve calculation speed. I have some questions about numeric calculations:
Lets begin from first
1. Ordinary Matlab Connection is not best way.
The time of calculations is equal. I mean LinearAlgebra Solve comand and inv(a)*b Matlab comand (Matlab Comand Line Connection, I think). Do new Toolbox solve this problem or it is question using
new Core Duo Maple Compilating (10.04)?

Thanks

Are the matrices sparse ?

Are the matrices sparse ?

Maple - MATLAB

Yes. There are sparse, numerous of zero elements is big enough.

Comments to problem:
Maple 10.03
with(Matlab); and LinearAlgebra Solve comand
Time of calculations is about equal.

Matlab-link vs. Maple Toolbox for MATLAB

Maple has had a "Matlab" package for some time; allowing users who have MATLAB installed to execute MATLAB commands from within Maple. The newly announced "Maple Toolbox for MATLAB" is the reverse setup. With the new toolbox you can execute Maple commands from within MATLAB. The "Maple Toolbox for MATLAB" does not affect any of the commands loaded by with(Matlab).
