Maple 12: Copying 2D input from one doument to another changes to 2D Math

In doc A, I have a matrix in 2D Input.

In doc B, I

Change input to 2D Input; type in natrix name, :=. Cursor location says it is 2D Input. I copy matrix from doc A and paste it into doc B. The style changes to 2D Math.

In addition (see previous post), when I change the line to 2D Input, I cannot get Maple to spit out a line with the matrix and an equation number (label).

All the canned demos are great, but Maple is not ready for prime time if it cannot do these and other simple tasks. I cannot imagine creating the perfect document first time out, and that means editing and making changes. Maple fails regularly to make changes correctly.

2D input

In general, I think that even the idea of 2D input is wrong. A normal process is 1D input - 2D output.

So far, Maple is consistently pasting copied 2D Input as 2D Math. But...

I have "discovered" why I was not getting 2D Output when I pressed enter at the end of the 2D Input line as I expected. Though it appears that I am at the end of the line, I am not. It seems that there is a narrow field of something at the end of the math line. I suppose that makes sense, else how would we be able to write text on either end of a math field. Nonetheless, I wasn't expecting something there that I didn't put there, and assumed that I was in the math field when I pressed enter. Now, after I paste something in, I press left-arrow to get back into the end of the math field; then I press enter and get the output with equation label I want.
