Hi-
I've been trying to figure out how I can customize a palette so that includes unicode characters that aren't included in any palette already.
I have a habit of using symbols from languages that aren't customary in the math world for some of my work. I use a lot of Japanese characters as well as some from various other languages.
I can use them without a problem by simply grabbing them from my character palette that is part of my OS, and dropping them into my document. It's a simple procedure, but it hogs RAM. (By the way, I am running Maple 12, academic edition, on a Macbook Pro with dual Intel Processors and OS X Leopard, just in case that information helps someone help me).
So, I can put the characters in my document by adding them each time I need them, or by cutting and pasting, which isn't so bad, except that each time I am working in maple, I have to start the process over again. I would like to have the various symbols I use available in the palette to save time and RAM.
I have tried dragging the symbol from my document into the Favorites Palette, but Maple won't let me.
If anyone knows a way to add Unicode symbols to a palette, I would love to hear from you. If it involves any UNIX coding, that's fine, but I am not terribly familiar with it, so be gentle, please.
I really hope someone out there has an idea for me. I would appreciate that tremendously.
Thanks.
