Google Mini

      <itunes:summary>
The search on MaplePrimes is powered by Maplesoft's Google Mini server.

It uses the same algorithm as Google proper, which does work in mysterious ways.

You can see the raw results from the Google Mini here:

http://search.maplesoft.com/search?q=site:http://www.mapleprimes.com+cipher&btnG=Maplesoft+Site+Search&entqr=0&ud=1&sort=date:D:L:d1&output=xml_no_dtd&site=default_collection&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=default_frontend&proxystylesheet=default_frontend

And actually doing the same query with Google proper gets different results

http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=site:http://www.mapleprimes.com+cipher#q=site:http://www.mapleprimes.com+cipher&hl=en&prmd=iv&ei=wuAITfuLDMianAe6yaBU&start=0&sa=N&fp=b2d6c32a20d10150

But it still misses the "_%{F2M2z....." thread.

Thanks

      <itunes:summary>
Thanks for the response, Will!

The exact cause might just have to remain a mystery.

Sometimes I've suspected that some other misses might be due to keywords (words indexed as searchable) not being recognized when lying within <pre> tags (which would be great pity, as it is a very common way to show 1D code here with a more appropriate font). Or if the word is bold or italicized. But those are just wild guesses on my part.

      <itunes:summary>
I doubt that Google skips any words that have the formatting you describe, Google actually indexes Flash, PDF and JavaScript now, so they're obviously indexing as much as possible, so skipping valid HTML makes no sense.

why not providing the Google search mask (per link)?

      <itunes:summary>
Will,

Though the current board search fits the layout & style it would
be simply very helpfull to have the advanced search options
which are common to Google 'users'.

In the current presentation one can not even guess, that it can
be used.

The only thing missing there is a refresh to re-enter that mask.
