behind the "Maple Math" button

      <itunes:summary>
The input to the "Maple Math" box is, by default, evaluated. And this is done, in the end by a Maple engine. Now, Maple LaTeX code output is generically bad and its generating facility has not been maintained for years. So, most likely, such nice math generated from LaTeX code is, for this forum, just a dream.
</itunes:summary>

Lots of viable ways

      <itunes:summary>The point about wikipedia/latex was that it is an image. Even an image/grab from maple would be acceptable, compared to the horrible present results on mapleprimes.

There are several other ways to get good math output in web pages. And Mapleprimes uses none of them (the worksheet upload/convert mechanism is silly; I discount it.)</itunes:summary>

popularity of 2D Math in Answers/Comments

      <itunes:summary>
If the numbers for the 2-Dimensional Badge are correct, then to date (25/07/2010) only three members have used 2D Math in five or more posts since the new version 2 of Mapleprimes went online in May. Doesn't that mean that the regular responders are avoiding it in Answers and Comments?

My biggest problems with the worksheet-upload method of posting 2D Math (as opposed to using the Editor button) are that it takes too much effort and that the resulting images don't contain 1D equivalents in alt-tags so one cannot copy and paste them directly (without having to launch the GUI... and wait... and then use the mouse some more...). Grabbing some inlined, posted 2D Math and then putting it back into a reply, prettily rendered, is a lot of work.

2D Math in Mapleprimes posts could be useful if it made the math easier to see (for which, it'd need to be much better rendered, to be sure), and it were easy to post and grab and repost without using the Maple Standard GUI.

2-D math complications

      <itunes:summary>
@acer

Indeed, the bad typesetting results of my tests of the "Maple Math" method for posting output have convinced me to avoid it: I find that even the "primitive" 2-D ascii math looks better in most cases.

In general, I do skip most of the posts using the worksheet-upload method as usually I do not have time nor patience to retype the input or download-launch the Standard GUI, and copy-paste the input into 1-D (actually into Classic).

I also tend to skip blogs when I see them laden with 2-D math gif files as their transfer time is too long.
