Try using square brackets in your display command, and see if that gets you there. It seems to work for the attached.

The problem seems to be with the "filled" option, in the plottools command for the ellipse.

As a potential workaround, change:

sit := seq(ellipse([-1.8+(1/10)*t, 1.9], .4, .1, filled = true, color = black), t = 0 .. 100):

sit := seq(ellipse([-1.8+(1/10)*t, 1.9], .4, .1, color = black, thickness = 5), t = 0 .. 100):

and see if the animated plot is acceptable to you.

This will also work for your Little test, just change it to:

display([arc2, siege]);

Thanks gkokvidis! Adding brackets worked for the sun (disk) beeing in front of the background polygon. However, i still can't figure out the last piece of the puzzle: the bench. Here's a small example in which i cannot manage to bring the black ellipse in front of the half-circle. Go figure.

Also, here is the whole file in case somebody would like to take a look. The comments are in french so it may be hard for you guys to see what is what but i've added big red comments (can't miss them) to show you the problematic spots. Again, only the bench is the problem and it's driving me crazy. I don't have much time left before i have to submit it. Thanks again for all the help.

Well, that does the trick! Thank you gkokovidis, this is much appreciated!

Here's another quick one althought it's not as important: you can see that the bike and scene are thick and not very nice when the plot is not enlarged a little. I usually do so manually by clicking on the plotting area and moving a corner further away. Is there an option such as width= and height= that would help display the graph with the proper size without requiring any action from the user?

Not possible using commands in worksheet, equivalent to clicking and dragging the plot

For an inline plot object, in an existing worksheet, as you have above, this is not possible, as far as I know. This question has come up before, but as of Maple 14, I am not aware of a solution. It can be done with Maplets, ,or when you export the plot, but that is not what you are looking for.
