perhaps you mean the ini file in your system?

The location of this ini file will depend on your os and specifics. Under windows, this is often in

Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Maple15

perhaps you can locate it by searching for Maple15.ini or Maple14.ini, etc..

check all ini files

Search for all ini files. Maybe also there is a library you created which Maple loads on startup which has the alteration in it?

@ Ratch, anything in the startup code would be there as you explained, it is not hiding on you.

And if it works on restart and nothing is in the startup code region then the command inteface(imaginaryunit=j) must be in the maple.ini file

My worksheet is a blank. When I type in ?startupcode, it switches to the startupcode editor screen. When I exit that screen it returns to my previous blank workwheet. While in the editor screen, I do not see the command interface(imaginaryunit=j), yet I know it is somewhere because "j" is in effect for every new worksheet I make.
