Try re-saving your worksheet under the classic Maple 16 and see if the standard gui will then open the newer saved worksheet (that method has worked for me in the past).

I like the classic version of Maple, loads faster and is quicker and is more backward compatable as aparent above. I have heard the classic interface is no longer supported ( I suppose it will not be included in Maple 17 - I could be wrong) however it is a window for newer users to access older worksheets. It would be a loss to loose access to older worksheets.
