Change Atomic back to non-Atomic

Look at this very simple example:

a^2 is assigned to equal x. Then I change the a^2 to be atomic. If one looks in the pull down menu the atomic identifier option is shown as selected. Fine. No problem.

But now try and go back to undo this. Where is the "make this non-atomic" button????? It seems like I can do this once and then forever the assignment as atomic is permanent.

In the first version of your question you say nothing about assigning. This is perfomed as in my above answer "One way":

Don't hesitate to ask for further explanations in need. I don't know how to produce it programmatically.

Tried the right-click pop up and the pull down.

I never see an option where I can uncheck the Atomic Identifier once enabled. The next time I get in a bind I will post the whole work sheet. But it sure seems related to LHS assignment where a superscript is used.

For sure Maple doesn't like a superscript on the LHS because it gives me an error when I try to do this. The error goes away as soon as I make it atomic. But then, as written, I can't go back.

Cut and Paste should have worked, but didn't

Hi - Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried all kinds of cuts and pastes. Close out software, restart and reopen. Etc.

Finally I walked through each line testing my ability to convert from 2-D to 1-D without atomic code showing up. Half way down the document I found a line I couldn't reconvert. So I typed it back in, this worked on that line. And then that fixed the rest of the worksheet.

I think I had an embedded bug in all the GUI code.
