Are you sure you are running the same version of the MapleNet server as is used for this site? [And don't assume that this site uses the latest version... Maplesoft is very conservative in its software upgrades of important systems.]

In MapleNet 11, there was a bug in the 2D MathContainer that incorrectly handled the math and caused the Maple kernel performing the calculation to abort.

This was fixed in the MapleNet 11.01 release. I think the MapleOracles site uses MapleNet 11.01

And the tag?

It this move also the reason the <maple> tag, which used to work fine before the site upgrade, is now broken?

I am sorry for not giving important information. I use MapleNet 11 with JDK 1.6.0_03 and Tomcat 5.0.30. Actually, what version of MapleNet is used for mapleoracles.maplesoft.com server ?
