<itunes:summary>Yes, it is possible. In 2D mode type Delta, Ctrl-Shift-Space x. The 'Ctrl-Shift-Space' sequence is for the linux OS, I'm not sure about Windows. Check the Help->Quick Reference "2D Math Editing Operations, Keyboard Shortcuts and Operations" (last line in that subsection).

There must have been something that crapped up the document sheet that was causing it not to work, because it worked fine on a clean document just not on the one I was currently in.

Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks,

      <itunes:summary>Joe Riel,

My post above was made in standard worksheet mode. I discovered a while back that spelling out a greek letter followed by an underscore and another character mysteriously produced the greek character joined to the succeeding character. It works for upper and lower case greek characters, and is very useful. I don't think it is documented.

From a totally pratical point yes and I knew how to do that, but

I want to actually use the greek letter delta in the assignment,
e.g.
Δx:=y-z:

Thanks,
