As an animation, yes. But viewpoint doesn't appear to be an option for Maple 12.

How can we do that in 12?

There is something called Javaviewlib for Maple but I don't use that and I'd rather not. I'd like it to work completely within Maple.

In Maple 12 you should be able to use the orientation option to rotate the plot. It doesn't provide all the options that the viewpoint option has but it should allow you to provide a animation of your curve moving. For example you can do something like the following:

plots:-animate(plot3d, [sin(x/y), x = -10 .. 10, y = -10 .. 10, orientation = [A, 10]], A = 0 .. 100);

In Mupad (which is a part of MATLAB now), one can do various rotations in plots, including those in help pages, just by pushing a corresponding button at the top - left to write, top to bottom etc., other directions, change the speed of rotation etc.
