Hi all,

I have been trying to plot in Maple a Beta Prime Distribution using the Statistics package. I have define it through its density function and its range with the command

U := Distribution(PDF = (proc (x) options operator, arrow; x^(alpha-1)*(1+x)^(-alpha-beta)/Beta(alpha, beta) end proc), Support = 0 .. infinity)

and then assigned it to a random variable Z with the command

Z := RandomVariable(U)

Now I wanted to plot the density...

it would seem like ubuntu 12.04 is not officially supported for Maple 16. Could someone from Maplesoft comment if there are plans to add support with perhaps a patch? or will we have to wait until Maple 17?

I need to update for certain sofware, but would want to make sure I can run maple in an uncompromised way.

Hiim using maple 14 and tried to apply the sum of vector's elements, y appears a error (Error, unsupported type of index, n)

a := Vector(5, {(1) = 1, (2) = 2, (3) = 3, (4) = 4, (5) = 5});
> sum(a(n), n = 1 .. 5);

Error, unsupported type of index, n

I'm in a calculus course in college right now and my professor wanted us to buy a copy of Maple, so I did.  I bought it for my Mac, but the software seems to be having trouble with basic operations, like adding, subtracting and multiplying.  If I were to try and add 2+3, for example, I can type in "2," but then when I try to type in "+," it deletes the two instead and freezes the Maple program itself.  I have no idea what's going on.  PLEASE HELP!!!
