Maple Mentor Awards: The Big Kahuna

Tim Vrablik's picture

Just to clarify, this is not a post to discuss the character played by Cliff Robertson in the movie Gidget....this is much bigger.  This is to announce who the Maple Prime's Mentor of the Year is.  But before I get to that, I would like to thank all members of the Maple Primes community for their contributions over the past year. I hope that you will continue to be active and contribute regularly to Maple Primes.

Now, on to the winner....drum roll please....I'm trying to build suspense here....the recipient of the 2008 Maple Primes Mentor of the Year is: Doug Meade.  Aside from garnering the coveted title of Mentor of the Year, Doug has also won a trip to Maplesoft HQ in  scenic Waterloo,Ontario.

Congratulations Doug!

I second what Acer said above.  An excellent choice.  Congratulations to Prof. Meade.  I certainly have benefitted from the body of Maple work that Doug has made available to us over the years.

Congratulations

Doug,

Congratulations!

I used your PowerTools and a lot of other materials in my differential equations courses (when I used Maple in them), and they were very useful. Thank you!

Sorry for a delay with the congratulations - I was quite sick last week or so, and didn't visit this site.

Congratulations

Doug's posts are always well-crafted, and usually immensely pedagogical.  He truly uses Maple as a tool for learning and exploration.

As jakubi said, learning first-hand from Doug what needs to be done to make Maple an even more useful tool would be a treat.

Jacques

congrats Doug

This is well deserved. I've learned so much by reading your posts here!
