Hi there,

The attached worksheet has the formulas for the final velocities.

Once you determine the angles (which are also explained in the worksheet), you can determine the components of the final velocities.

If you can write out the exact problem for me, I can have a better idea of how to help out.

Now that you know how to find the final velocities by deriving the quadratic by hand, I have revised the previous worksheet and attached another one that shows you how to derive the quadratic and solve it just within a few clicks. This will show you Maple's powerful clickable abilities. Just follow the steps in the worksheet.

As for the angles/directions after the collision, the worksheet shows you show to narrow the problem down to a set of linear equations and how to use maple to solve them.

Hi there !

I've designed a worksheet (attached) that will show you how to use Maple to solve a 2D collision problem. When it comes 2D collisions, momentum equations can be really big and tedious to work with.

But with Maple, you can manipulate equations and isolate variables at the click of a button.
