Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I am not supposed to be using calls to routines such as dsolve.  However I believe I have written a rudimentary program but I'm unsure that it is linking properly when I change the initial condtions. I ended up simply putting v0 into the equation to represent d(theta)/dt but am worried that maple is simply substituting the values in the function rather than running the program. 

How can I be certain maple is running the program rather than simply substituting the values? Also is it ok that I have simply put v0 instead of d(theta)/dt?
