Sadly, I cannot move forum posts into blog entries.

However, I did move it into a more appropriate forum, the "Everything but..." forum

You chose the Plain Text input format which causes all of the HTML tags to be visible.

I fixed your post by choosing the Filtered Html format

Primes currently runs Drupal 5.72, Drupal 6 was just released today, so I won't be updating to that any time soon.

Drupal does not have any WYSYWIG editor built in, so the editor would not be changed in Drupal 6.

It looks like the option to remove the editor is not being remembered, and it is being re-added when you log into your account again. I'll look into this.

It isn't possible to re-enable the buttons from the old version of the site, they don't work with the latest version of Drupal. If you wish to disable the WYSYWIG editor, you'll have to enter all of your html yourself.

It looks like the move to the new MapleNet server caused the <maple> tag to fail.

It works fine with the simple tests that I performed, but for more complex entries, it is currently failing.

This has nothing to do with the new editor, I will take a look and see if I can find what the problem is.

MathML doesn't work in any current browsers (As far as I know) out of the box.

Even Firefox requires you to install additional fonts to get it to work. And it defintely doesn't work in Internet Explorer. Until MathML is widely supported, I cannot use it here.

As is, if you enter in MathML on MaplePrimes right now, it will convert the MathML (between <math> tags) into a GIF using the same process as is used for <maple> tags.

The reason that the HTML tags appeared is because Robert Israel chose the "Plain Text" input format. Which caused exactly what you typed to appear in the posting.

If you use the editor to create your posts, you should not choose the Plain Text input format because it automatically creates HTML tags

I do have a second server that I test all changes on.

This time, the change worked Ok on the development machine, but obviously not Ok on the live site. I am working on fixing it now.

I don' t understand what you mean by the archive being affected? Can you give me a specific example?

I added the editor to make it easier for users to create posts. With this editor, I can type < and > without any knowledge of how they should be converted to HTML. Many new users were having difficulty entering their Maple syntax due to the limitations of HTML, and I think that in general, the editor is a signifigant improvement.

The "historical archive" of the site won't be affected by the editor. It is only possible to change the formatting of a post by editing it. It is possible that the editor is messing up Maple syntax, but it can only do this if someone edits a post.

The current beta version of the FCKEditor module for Drupal allows users to choose to disable the editor. Unfortunately, that version has other problems so I can't install it yet. Once it proves to work well, I will be installing it. Right now, if you want to disable the editor, turn of JavaScript in your browser. The editor won't appear, and you will be able to use the old style for posting.

Unfortunately, it is not trivial to add new buttons to the toolbar. I do plan to add them, but I don't have the time for it at the moment.

I'm sorry for the problems this has caused, and will be fixing it as soon as I can.
