If you tried programming anything extensive within Maple you'll quickly realize you need something outside of Maple to speed up the process. I used jEdit for a while, which has Maple syntax recognition, with great results. The benefit of the IDE over a strict editing program like jEdit is the integration with the Maple environment for compiling, syntax checking using Mint, and the ability to organize your modules/packages with better visibility. Without the IDE you're forced to reload the file you're working with to compile/run from within Maple - which just took a long time, especially during debug. For the amount of money this IDE costs, I think it's worth the cost just in time savings. If you're expecting a full IDE comparable to Visual Studio and NetBeans with extensive debugging capablities, the Maple IDE within Eclipse falls short. But the positive side is it forces you to be a better programmer (not saying I am, but when I have debugging tools to rely on I tend to use them as a cruch).

My first impressions are I would recommend it.

Thanks for that very simple answer.I got used to having to put them in my code from previous languages.

Thanks for your time.
