As promised in an earlier post, we have made the LaTeX to Maple T.A. conversion utility available on one of our web sites. We will be making some modifications and improvements to the converter in the near future, but we wanted to make sure users had access to this important tool in the meantime. You can find the LaTeX to Maple T.A. converter at the following URL: http://latex2ta.mapleserver.com If you have any questions or concerns, please send them to our support team at support@maplesoft.com Sincerely, Louise
We have been in contact with Brownstone, but haven't received a confirmed date of when the converter will be functional again. Maplesoft is committed to providing our users with the tools they require to be productive. Providing the LaTeX conversion service for Maple T.A. at our site is in the plans, but was not scheduled to be done until this summer. With the report of problems on the Brownstone site, we are investigating this issue and hope to have something available for you to use by the end of this week. In the meantime, if anyone has a LaTeX file that they absolutely require before the end of this week, please feel free to send it to me directly (louisek@maplesoft.com). The turn around time will not be as quick as the web-based converter, but it will be faster than someone converting the files by hand. Sincerely, Louise Krmpotic Product Manager, Maplesoft
Your idea about creating an easier function to use that will do the maple("printf(MathML[ExportPresentation](...))"); is a good one. I'll add it to our list of suggestions for a future version. The mathml(f) function is good for simple mathematical expressions. If you want to do more complicated expressions, you need to use something that will generate the appropriate mathml. You can use Maple or, in Maple T.A. 2.5, the new equation editor is available in most question types. Were you having specific problems trying to get the integral you want?
Even though the students have been deleted from the class roster, the gradebook is designed to show all student results (even deleted students), as you have found. The only way to completely remove a student from the system (and, therefore, the gradebook) is to do the following, which requires access to the files on the server: 1. Shutdown the server 2. Remove the student record from the class' Students folder. You may want to back this file up in another location. 3. Rename the Results.sys file in the class folder to something like Oldresults.sys. 4. Restart the server. This will cause the gradebook for the class to be regenerated using the student information from the Students folder. Since the deleted students have been removed from that location, the gradebook will be regenerated without the deleted students' records in it. This functionality has been requested by other users as well and will hopefully make it into a future version of Maple T.A. Sincerely, Louise
At the moment, there is no direct way to add grades for assignments that have been taken offline. A workaround that can be used is to start the assignment as the student and grade it (without entering any answers). In the gradebook, this assignment will now show up in the student's record and you, the instructor, can change the grade appropriately. This functionality has been requested by other users as well and we'll hopefully see it in a future release of the software.
