Yes, those better display the arrow direction, but obscure the intended structure: two 4-cycles joined to a common sink.  I guess the circular version would work (especially if 8 and 9 are swapped and 1 and 2). 

I would still prefer to keep the original positions of the vertices and move the arrow heads, though.
