It looks like patmatch is the way to go. I was stuck trying to get get Maple to think that it was dealing with a polynomial so that I could use one of the <coeff> related commands.

<solve> is also an interesting idea, but it forces me to specify a value for x. Either way I am grateful for your help, as I have actually been stuck on this problem for some time now.
