Thanks, Robert.   I have since discovered that I can use F[1] in textplot but not in textplot3d.  Is there any way to make this work in 3d?

Hi Paulina,

   I am trying to get the character F with a subscript of 1 in a textplot 3d command.  I followed your model and it works fine in textplot but not in textplot3d.  What do I need to do to modify this for 3d?

   Thanks.

Like others, I am trying to get a character with a subscript into a textplot command.  I am using textplot3d (and Maple 12) but I can't imagine that this makes a difference.  I would like to have an F with a subscript of 1.  I took your model and modified it only slightly to this:

textplot3d([1,2,3,typeset('#msubsup(mi("F"),mi("1"))')]);

It told me that it was unable to match delimiters.  I counted my left and right parens over and over and I don't believe that I made any errors.  Is there something else wrong with the command, above?

Thanks.
