The procedure similar to that for polynomials can not be applied in case of differential expression, I tried that way but could not be successful .

@Doug Meade Dear Sir I appreciate the way you answered.

My query is related to following system

eq1:=48lc-3a*b-3a*[(b+2a)^2-40lc]^1/2-6a^2=0;

eq2:=-24lc+6b*[(b+2a)^2-40lc]^1/2+12a*[(b+2a)^2-40lc]^1/2+6*[(b+2a)^2-40lc]=0;

as you can see that there are four variables a,b,c and l, I want to know whether Maple can help to select b and l in term of a and c so that above system is consistent??
