It sounds to me increasing/decreasing...

Patrick, find here some more links:

Look in particular to this interesting argument by David Clayworth, former GUI Developer, about the situation of PostScript export drivers, programatic vs graphic, and Maplesoft stand on this issue. Indeed, this post is from 2008, and a new developer is in charge of the GUI, but I am not aware of an updated statement from him showing any change (in the positive direction...).

@acer, I have just found that the missing labels problem with:

plots:-display( P, 'axesfont' = [ TIMES, ROMAN, 10 ],
                'labelfont' = [ TIMES, ROMAN, 10] );

occurs also when displaying the plots in the Standard GUI, both inline or window. I observe it also in Maple 14.01 Standard GUI. So, this problem may be even deeper.

Edit: I have checked that this same problem occurs also in Standard GUI for Maple 10.06, 11.02, 12.02 and 13.02. So, it is a rather old bug and sounds like the plotsetup export driver was just "adapted" to follow more closely to the oncreen driver....

Edit2: Also checked that this same problem occurs with the maplet driver, which was frozen at about Maple 11 or 12 time.

All these examples work fine in the Classic GUI using the maplet driver.

I have exported with plotsetup(ps) in Maple 15.01 the example in ?plot,options and I have got it fine. Do you have a simple example showing this problem?

What matters is the thinking on this subject within the Maplesoft management. It is pretty likely that its assigned priority is quite low, in proportion to the low estimated ROI.

@Christopher2222

Jacques has made some comments about the resources that systematic code maintenance would need. His view is clearly much more pesimistic.

About communication of SCRs, from ideas and suggestions to bug reports, there has been many requests of a bug forum/tracker, as it can be seen in this thread and links therein.

@PatrickT

A serious problem of Maplesoft, in my opinion, is the obscurity about its development plans.

@Christopher2222
Yes, some sampling suggests that most members do not show any content. Also, Maplesoft staff and other persons with some drect relationship with the company seem to concentrate at  the lower part of this range.

I was thinking the same about a procedure, but I think that I won't have time to go into it.

@Christopher2222 It may be a long list. Both mid=1 and mid=140000 are associated with names.

@acer No, I had not understood it. So, you ask whether different location of singulatities on the complex plane of two functions, very similar otherwise on the real axis, may serve as a criterion for selecting which one is a better primitive/antiderivative function. An evident advantage is for integration contours that do not cross singularities in one case and do in the other. Besides that, it may be an open question, I think.
