Maybe I am asking the wrong question.

If I use dsolve I get a very complicated expression involving RootOf. But if I solve it using separation of variables 

int(1/((a - x)*(b - 2*x)^2), x) = k*int(1,t)

I get a much simpler solution. I thought the difference is that here I make the implicit assumption that a-x ≠ 0 and b-2x ≠ 0. 

How to I get the same answer using both approaches?
