Hello hermitian,

you're obviously right - there's no reason why not use Maple as a programming language for high-level codes, at least in my opinion. I'm using it for for custom-made regression problems in thermodynamics and I find it very useful that you can do the debugging more easily than in e.g. Fortran. The only issue is that if you use the java-run Maple, you use a lot of memory, so this is why large-scale problems may run more slowly.

Hello Will,

as much as I try, I'm unable to login using the MaplePrimes website. What's more, I succeeded in creating another account with exactly the same username, i.e. Magdalena Bendova, that is now blocked, because it was created at the time of the spam attacks. So logging in with this username became impossible.

I wonder how it was possible to sign in with my e-mail in the past... And how was I able to create a second account with the same username - usually this wouldn't be possible, would it?

Magdalena

Hello Thomas,

you might be right, we all have spaces in our usernames, but I always signed in with my e-mail address, which could also be a problem...

@Will: I wonder if the username can be changed (if this is really what created this problem).

Thanks Eric, for your alternatives to my problem. I'm an intermediate beginner programmer, so I welcome every possible tips and tricks. What I'm trying to put into a matrix is a vector of weights values calculated in a partial least-squares problem, so in fact all the possibilities you suggest may be useful to me :-).

Hello Will, I'm always clicking on the link in the welcome e-mail, there's no other possibility in it, no explicit password that I could use directly on the Mapleprimes web.

Alex, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I have tried to sign in both at my workplace computer and at home - everytime the same!

Yes, but I have created my account more than three years ago... Moreover, I have had this problem already before this Christmas, before the spam attacks. I'll try to log out now and sign in again to see what happens :-).

Thanks, this is much more elegant than the solution I have used, i.e. making a list of lists and converting it to a matrix!
