I use the plotting and analysis package IDL. Here also the license daemon is flexlm.

My license would not work anymore when I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion a good year ago. The problem turned out to be that Apple had had the excellent idea of swapping the meaning of the network intrefaces en0 and en1.

Flexlm uses the id of the ethernet card, and so it does by polling en0 (that is on Mountian Lion). On Lion it was en1.

If the problem described in this thread happened after an upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, it can seem that Apple has swapped en0 and en1 once more.

To Vincent: If Apple has swapped en0 and en1 twice, that might explain why your old SPSS 21 works on Mavericks.

I have kept my old license file, i.e the one that worked on Lion. Maybe this will work on Mavericks.

I am really dependent on IDL, so I don't want to gamble with this.
