Thanks for the advice. I think there may be something weird going on with Maple 2.5. I've just asked for a new version of Maple TA. I will use the randomize() function. Thanks again.

I am trying to create a dataset for students to examine in Maple TA (v. 2.5). I used the following script: $x1 = maple("RandomTools[Generate](list(distribution(Normal(0,2)), 10))"); $y1 = maple(" Statistics[Mean]($x1) "); The result on $y1 is then: java.io.IOException: Maple computation error The script works in Maple 12. i don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could anybody please help me out? Thanks.
