Maple 11 for Vista seems to work if used in Classic and Command-line worksheet mode. However, on the full blown version, the maple calculator, and that new reader people are talking about does not work (as in not launching or uninstalling at all). I shouldn't be wasting my time in trying to make maple work. I should be spending my time in what the tool was meant to be used for, solving math and engineering problems. sorry for the rant but this lack of progress on making this work for me is making me nuts.
for some unknown reason. I purchased Maple 11, downloaded it to my Vista machine and worked fine. Then, uninstalled it and downloaded the Vista Version, installed it and now does not launch at all. Not even the uninstall command works so I can't revert back the my original download version. I've done all the tricks possible (like rebooting several times, launching it from the command prompt, uninstalling from command prompt, etc), but none seemed to work. Can Maplessoft tell me what is going on? If the thing wasn't ready for Vista then Maplesoft should've waited until they were sure they had a reliable product. I love Maple, but as you can tell I'm very frustrated with a seemingly simple task which I'm not able to do. I would appreciate if Maplesoft does not advertise availability and support for Vista if it's not capable to deliver on its promise. Remember that customer is king, and if you try to upset the customer that spells disaster for your bottom line. I work for a high-technology company with more than 70,000 employees worldwide where more than 60% are engineers. Just at the division where I work about 11,000 employees work, 6000 of whom are engineers. MATLAB is a company standard, but I was willing to evangelize co-workers and the engineering internal community because I believe in Maple being a superior product, but after this I have reservations to follow through.
you're right that puts the hat too high in the output. how do you implement your command though. I've kind of given up on Maple for this one. I had to spelled xhat out in my worksheet. thanks anyway to all who responded.

J Tarr, try it but it's amazing xhat is no where to be found. there's have to be a reason for the exclusion of xhat in all these apps.

If you're doing the following these are my choices; Symbolic manipulation => Maple Numerical analysis => MATLAB Data Acquisition/Experimentation => LabVIEW They're all excellent environments.
