Key Fob Replacement for the Seat Ibiza The facelifted fifth generation Ibiza is an interesting contender in the supermini segment. The OBDII scanner is able to help diagnose this issue by telling you what is wrong with the system. The scanner will ask to provide information about your vehicle including the model, make, engine type and VIN number. Faulty Receiver Module The key fob has a receiver module that transmits the signals for lock and unlock. If this module fails and the on-board electronic components will stop functioning. Reprogramming the key fob with an OBDII scan or replacing it can help. This issue can be caused by a dead coin-cell either from water damage or signal interference. You can reset the onboard computer if you disconnect the 12 Volt batteries for 15 mins. This will eliminate any remaining electricity that may be causing problems. Begin by removing the cable from the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal. After 15 minutes, reconnect the battery in reverse order first: positive, then negative second. Water or dirt can also cause damage to the internal chip of the key fob. If the key fob you purchased stopped working after getting wet, wipe it with isopropyl, or an electronics cleaner.
