Thanks,

I could get it if I leave the field Append the argument (in the opened window) blank. But if we use Apply a Command then the purpose of Conext Menu is lost, isn't it?  Since we could write Student[Precalculus][CompleteSquare](%)  directly after the prompt instead of using the Context Menu.

@Markiyan Hirnyk

This is the worksheet I got int(PDF(Y))=1 and a correct result. I used Maple13.  For the problem "X=Uniform(-Pi,Pi) .  Y= a*sin(X+theta). Find PDF(Y) ".  Thanks,

 PS: If you use Maple12 to run the worksheet then you may get a BUG (strange result) !

This problem is from  the book below and  I tried to make my worksheet to get the same answer with the book and actually it did.

"Probability & Random Variables & Stochastic Processes 4th ed.  2002  Papoulis "

I got PDF_total =2. piecewise(...,1/(2*sqrt(a^2-y^2)*Pi),...)  where the factor 2 comes from the 2 roots in [-Pi..Pi] if you have only 1 root , it is easy to get the result from Maple directly like Robert Irael showed above.

That 's great hint. Thanks.

But if the function is not monotonic then we need to add the PDF of  all the roots toghether ( I mean the roots of g(X) = y ).

I tried to write a code for   "X is RandomVariable:  Uniform(-Pi,Pi).    Y= a*sin(X+theta).  Find the PDF of Y." in the attached worksheet but don't know if it is correct or not.
