for people having the same problem, I post the nice answer from the Maple Support:
What appears to have happened is that when entering the lines, the
double quotes were entered, and by default Maple 10 entered both sets of quotes in. One of the quotes may have been deleted and then added in at the end. Since the 2D Maple input actually parses the double quotes as left and right, even though they don't look any different, and this appears to be the cause of the problem. If you change to 1D math input, Maple will not parse the quotes till the line is run which should get past this problem. Also, if you would like the old interface (and you are running the 32 bit version of Linux) you can go in to the second bin folder (on my computer it is called Maple10/bin.IBM_INTEL_LINUX/ and run the cwmaple program.
This interface is the older one that doesn't use Java.
