Yes, using a TextField is a work around, but why typing into a MathMLEditor do not work?

I notice that the sin(x) selected from the Palette is italized, while the one you type in, is not, meaning from beginning that the Editor is getting two different things, so the problem could be on the Editor not the Import.

Anybody knows a real direct solution without using another interface element?
