I noticed that in the algorithm section you define the answer to be the variable $f: $A/(($k)+s)^($alpha) + ($B)*s^($gamma)/(($l)+s) whereas in the maple answer section you are checking against $A/(($k)+s)^$alpha + ($B)*s^$gamma/(($l)+s). I tried your problem and got the errors you mentioned, but when I put parentheses around $alpha and $gamma in the maple answer section, the errors ceased. Why is this happening? I have no idea - it's really bizarre behavior. It certainly seems as though the parentheses should make no difference in this case. Can anyone explain why there is a difference?

Thank you! I'll give it a try...

Thank you. I had actually considered the workaround you mention, but how do I start the assignment as the student? I can think of only 1 feasible way: change the end date of the assignment to some time in the future, get the student to log in and hit the grade button, then change the assignment back to its original end date, and finally change the grade as the instructor. Is there an easier way?

Thank you for the reply. Hmmm... Sounds like more trouble than it's worth at this point. Maybe I'll wait for a later release unless it gets to be a real problem. Thanks again, Marc
