Product Suggestions

Post your suggestions on new features and products.

How about selling a T-shirt to publicize Maple?  Many other software companies do so.  If you do not want to get in this business, how about designing an "official" graphic that a user could download and hand off to one of the many custom T-shirt companies on the web. Such a high-res graphic/image could even be included with your product.  As an enthusiastic Maple user, I'd like to spread the word!

This is a suggestion designed to make it easier for newbies to use Maple.

Example:

 > solve(f=0,x,x=-1..1);
 Error, (in solve) invalid arguments

could be instead:

I realize this is far from a new suggestion. Earlier discussions may be found here and there (see some links below).

Has anyone yet produced a no-frills version of maple2latex? My main interest is in creating tables and matrices from Maple input, possibly containing symbols. Here is the wishlist:

a simple maple2latex that (1) does not insert unwanted ornaments such as font control, and perhaps (2) inserts line breaks and space where one usually finds them in LaTeX code. An example here:

I'll implement Jacques' suggestion that the discussion about parsers should be in a separate topic.

pull up the context when we writing at the end of page.

When at the end of the page, the context we see is at the bottom of the screen, and I've always enter some "Enter" to get more blank area at the bottom for a good view of my context.

Anyone agree the suggestion?

Or how to reach the purpose, for my possible ignorance of ready-made features

I seems that Maple doesn't know anything about the convexity of functions.

It would be nice to have a command to check the convexity of (real) functions in Maple, also Maple should have knowledge on the convexity of known functions: for example: constant function, linear function , abs,  sin  (convex on a specific region) etc.
To deal with the calculus of convex functions: for example Maple should know such theorems: if f(x) and g(x) are convex functions and g(x) is non-decreasing then g(f(x)) is convex, etc.

Another example of the FromMma conversion, from a recent forum post,

What i said before Maple is great product but it needs improvements in some areas. Step by step solutions on integrals with apsolute value doesn't work. Maple calculate the final result corect but there is no step by step solution. Two typical examples are abs(x)dx  and  1/(1-abs(cos(x)))dx

In the field of calculus Maple is very strong , the strongest i have ever seen, but with work with algebra is very week i will say very poor. Equation manipulator works only with equation not with expression . Look how it works on Algebrator 4.2 and you wil see what I mean. Simplify doesn't work corect see example in atachment. If you have step by step solutions on integrals this to implement on algebra is 100 times easy becouse here you know what is the next step.

With expression palette for multivariable calculus in Maple entering multivariable calculations wll be very easy such as double and triple integrals, line and surface integrals. No other program such as Mathematica or Matlab have this, why Maple don't be first who has this option.

Sorry for my english it's not my mother language.

The NullSpace help page in online help uses {{...}} for sets instead of {...}. I didn't check other pages with help examples containing sets.

Just looked at the RowSpace (and ColumnSpace) online help pages. They contain [[...]] instead of [...].

I have  suggestion for people who make maplesim. In this version in MapleSim
2.0 it's not posible to enter piecewise function in Signal
Blocks-Sources-Real-Real Expression component. It will be wonderfull If you
make this avalible.

Hi all,

There are a few useful commands in the MmaTranslator:-Mma. The help pages are rather confusing and don't seem to provide enough examples though. For example, take a look at the WriteString help page.

The calling sequence is WriteString(arguments) - and the Parameters section says that "arguments - Maple translation of the Mathematica command arguments", which assumes that the user knows the Mathematica arguments of that command.

What do you think of the -1^n with no parentheses?
